Homemade Rustic Bread

One of favourite recipes to make on a Sunday afternoon is our own version of Soda Bread, which is much easier than you would think. This particular recipe requires no kneading and no yeast - so simple. 

 

Ingredients 

- 4 cups Plain Flour (or wholemeal if you want a more dense loaf)

- 2 tsp salt

- 2 tsp Baking Soda

- 2 cups Buttermilk 

- 1/2 Oats (optional)

 

Method

1. Preheat oven to 200° 

2. Mix all dry ingredients 

3. Add buttermilk and stir (dough will be sticky)

4. Transfer onto floured benchtop and mold into shape

5. Place onto a tray with baking paper 

6. Bake for 20 minutes on 200°

7. Reduce heat to 180° and bake for another 20 minutes 

8. Enjoy!

 

Hint: You can also make your own buttermilk. All you need is milk and lemon juice
